Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday of September in the USA. It is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. This series of photographs shows people watching the annual Labor Day parade in downtown Toledo,OH. Nicknamed “The Glass City,” Toledo was once known for being the sight of manufacture for every single windshield installed in American-made cars. Along with Detroit and Flint, Toledo’s car industry decreased rapidly within the last 30 years. This decline has led many local automotive companies to close down their offices and factories. Labor Day was widely celebrated in Toledo on its heyday.
